Found this awesomely informative short film on Japanese tattooing and The Great Horiyoshi III!
I am super grateful for this;

There have been numerous instructional films over the years… More often lately they are about the glamour and lifestyle of tattoo “superstars,” sadly beginning even to extend into the strange realm of reality television.
While some few companies have focused on providing a media outlet and exposure for artists, rarely has the mainstream media brought fame or recognition to the people who recognized talents in the culture.

Fittingly so- as with many art realms, the worst artists are often the best marketers, because how can one be fully dedicated to their craft when focusing on the pressures, temptations, and distractions of a Hollywood career?

Rarely do we get a glimpse of the real picture of tattoo history and modern culture, or see a highlight put on  movers and shakers that really move the craft.  This is for those of us sitting quietly at our desks and drawing tables, digging away at the craft.
